Answer to Question 1

Plastigage is a small threadlike material used to measure connecting rod bearing clearance. Plastigage
is a carefully designed material that flattens out uniformly when pressed. The material is laid across
the bearing surface, and the bearing cap is attached and torqued. The bearing cap is removed again,
and the width of the Plastigage measured with a special gauge.

Answer to Question 2

First it is important to leave it in good condition. You should first drain all fuel from the tank into an
approved disposable container. Make sure the engine is clean and dry with all debris removed from the
cooling fins and other places on the engine. If it will be stored for more than 60 days, remove the spark
plug and pour a few spoonfuls of engine oil into the opening. Pull the starter rope until the piston is at
the top of the cylinder. Replace the spark plug and store the engine in a dry location.
