Answer to Question 1

To prevent the engine from running too fast, a governor attached to the carburetor slows the engine
when a certain speed is reached. Spring tension in the linkage is countered by the action of the
governor. The engine's speed is controlled by a balance of forces exerted by the cable in one direction
and the governor in the other.



Answer to Question 2

The carburetor provides fuel and air to the engine in appropriate proportions and volume. Engine
speed, power, and acceleration are controlled by the carburetor.
