The three stages of parturition include:

1 . Phase 1 - contractions of the uterus until the cervix is completely dilated, with the end marked by transition
2 . Phase 2 - contraction of the uterus delivering the neonate through the birth canal
3 . Phase 3 - contraction of the uterus delivering the placenta and fetal membranes

Answer to Question 2

The advantages of artificial insemination include:

1 . Use of genetically superior males
2 . Dilution of semen allows many more females to be bred to a genetically superior male
3 . Ease of recordkeeping allows paternity to be readily established
4 . Reduced risk of injury to the female during coitus or to people working with the animals
5 . Reduced risk of the spread of venereal disease
6 . Semen is readily transported within the USA and internationally
