The characteristics of the genetic code include:

1 . Codons are three nucleotides or bases in a specific sequence.
2 . Codons do not overlap.
3 . Multiple codons existing for the same amino acid (termed degeneracy).
4 . The three codons UAA, UAG, and UGA are stop codons causing polypeptide chain termination.
5 . The code is universal with the same codons code for specific amino acids in all living organisms.

Answer to Question 2

Four of the following steps are recommended for selecting a shop project: (1) take a personal
inventory of agricultural mechanics skills; (2) discuss the results of the inventory with the instructor;
(3) ask the instructor to suggest projects that will help the development of the appropriate skills; (4)

details of design; (6) ask relatives, guardians, friends, and employers for ideas and suggestions; and (7)
make a tentative decision and obtain approval from the instructor.
