When constructing a catfish pond:

1 . The ground must be flat.
2 . The ground and walls of the pond must be impermeable to water.
3 . The ambient temperature should be between 77 and 81 degrees Fahrenheit.
4 . There needs to be a ready source of clean water with low salinity, low concentrations of toxicants, and a hardness between 50-100 mg/1 calcium carbonate equivalents.
