Answer to Question 1

T

Answer to Question 2

The pop rivet was named because it makes a popping sound when installed. It is useful in situations
where it is difficult to hold one end of the rivet and hammer the other. The pop rivet appears to be
mostly stem. During installation, the special pop rivet tool pulls the stem until the head (ball-like)
forces the end of the rivet to expand. By expanding, the rivet is held into place. As the stem is pulled
further by the tool, it breaks with a popping sound.

This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.

It may be triggered by a virus, bacteria, or foreign body in the eye. Antibiotic eye drops alleviate bacterial conjunctivitis, and antihistamine allergy pills or eye drops help control allergic conjunctivitis symptoms.
