The types of clear finish are as follows: oilused when you want a stain that will penetrate the wood;
varnishis easy to apply but is softer than the other modern finishers; Polyurethaneis clear,
water-resistant, and durable; and lacqueris a clear finish that dries quickly; and shellacone of the
very oldest of clear finishes, easy to apply, and creates a finish that shows the grain of the wood very
well.
