The correct procedure for fastening bolts includes: selecting the type of head needed; drilling a hole in
both members the size of the bolt; placing a washer on the bolt if a machine bolt is being used;
inserting the bolt; adding a flat washer and nut; and, tightening the nut until the members are tight.
