Answer to Question 1

A dado is a square or rectangular groove in a board. The purpose of a dado is to receive the end or
edge of another board. A rabbet is a cut or groove made at the end or edge of a board to receive
another board. The dado and rabbet joints are used wherever strong 90-degree angles are needed.

Answer to Question 2
