Answer to Question 1

Grades are based on quality standards, which improve acceptability of products by the consumer.
Grades indicate freshness, potential flavor, texture, and uniformity in size and weight, depending on
the commodity.

Answer to Question 2

The food industry is involved in the production, processing, storage, preparation, and distribution of
food for consumption by living things. Pet and animal food, as well as human food, requires a chain of
people, places, equipment, regulations, and resources to change farm products into edible foods.
