The gaits of the English equitation horse are walk, trot, canter, gallop, rack, and pace.
 The walk is a slow, four-beat gait.
 The trot is a fast, two-beat diagonal gait.
 The canter is a slow, three-beat gait.
 The gallop is a fast, three-beat gait in which all four feet come off the ground at the same time.
 The rack is a fast, four-beat gait.
 The pace is a side-to-side, two-beat gait.
