In 2009, the top producers of broilers by state were Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, North
Carolina, and Texas. The leading producers of eggs in the United States are Iowa, Ohio, and
Pennsylvania, followed by Indiana and California.



Answer to Question 2

Layers are chickens developed to produce large numbers of eggs. Broilers are young chickens grown
for meat.
