Answer to Question 1

To heal in a plant, a trench is dug in the soil deep enough to hold the roots of the plant, placing the
plant roots in the trench, and covering them with soil. Then the soil around the roots is compacted with
the heel of a shoe or boot. It is important to wet the soil well after healing in.

The fabric is made of fiberglass and will last many years. It is better than sheet plastic because it lets
water and fertilizer move through it, whereas the plastic sheet does not.
