Answer to Question 1

Because lespedeza has a lower nutritive value than true clovers and alfalfa, it is recommended as feed
for beef cattle but not for dairy cattle.

Answer to Question 2

Most hay is harvested by forming it into square or rectangular bales or into round bales of various
sizes. The baler gathers the dried hay from the windrow, compresses and shapes it into a bale, and ties
twine or wire around the bale to hold it together, allowing for handling. The bale is then expelled from
the baler. It is dropped on the ground for later transfer to storage.
