The Morrill Land Grant Acts of 1862 and 1890. The land grant college will vary by state.

As a storehouse of wealth to be sold to raise revenue or given away to reward soldiers who had served in the Continental
Army during the American Revolution. It was a way for the federal government to raise revenue without levying taxes
