The meat is used for food, the hides for shelter, and the oil for lamps. The Eskimo is the most common consumer
of walrus.

The Fur Seal Act of 1966, and as amended in 1983, 1988, 1990, 1992, and 1993, generally prohibits the taking
of fur seals. Exceptions are granted for Indians, Aleuts, and Eskimos living along the North Pacific Ocean.
