Answer to Question 1

The main components of the hydrologic cycle are the ocean, evaporation/transpiration, plants/animals, surface
water, and groundwater. Student explanations will vary. You should expect the observation that the oceans hold
the largest part of the water and that surface evaporation from the oceans contributes most water to the cycle. You
might see an observation that groundwater is the slowest moving part of the cycle.

Answer to Question 2

When water flows from a higher place to a lower place, it picks up speed and force. The force of that moving water
turns turbines which generate electricity

Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
