Answer to Question 1

Exhaustible resources are usable only once, and they exist in limited quantity. For example, there is a finite
amount of lead and oil in the world. When exhaustible resources are used up, there will be no more. The supply
of an exhaustible natural resource may be vast, as is the case for coal, but is not replaced by nature at a practically
useful rate.

Answer to Question 2

Renewable natural resources can be replenished as they are used. People can substantially manage the rate of
replenishment. When we harvest a tree and plant another to take its place, the tree is a renewable resource. When
we catch a fish, and it is replaced by more fish of the same species, then it is a renewable resource.
