Answer to Question 1

In 1955, Miller and coworkers were the first to report the identification of kinetin,
which was purified from aged herring sperm DNA.

Answer to Question 2

Gibberellins are produced in the embryo; they are then transported to the aleurone layer
of cells, where a-amylase is produced, thereby causing the conversion of starch to sugar in
the endosperm. These sugars are used for energy during the germination process.
