Answer to Question 1

The benefits of wind:
 Cools the plant, reduces moisture on the plant and soil surfaces, and reduces disease
problems.
 Makes the plant shorter with a tougher cuticle, thereby making it more resistant to
mechanical stress, pathogen, or insect attack.
Problems associated with wind:
 Plants are shorter and have reduced photosynthesis, resulting in a reduction in crop
yields.
 Wind accelerates the senescence process, leading to premature death; excessive
wind can result in physical damage to the plant just from shear force.

Answer to Question 2

Excessive water kills the plant due to reduced oxygen in the roots.
