They can be used by the plant, lost due to leaching, lost due to runoff, and tied up in
the soil by chemical reactions.

Answer to Question 2

 Soil testing determines the amount of nutrients found in the soil and the availability
of these nutrients.
 Foliar analysis provides information on the amount of nutrients taken up by the
plant and accumulated in the leaves.
 Visual diagnosis is solely based on visual observation and requires a trained eye
