A germination rate of 90 percent is desirable in fruit seeds. If your
  germination percentage was less, what are some possible reasons that could
  explain why the seeds did not germinate?

Answer to Question 1

Student answers will vary. Seeds may have been improperly prepared and therefore
unable to germinate; or were able to germinate but were not provided with the
proper conditions to facilitate their germination.



Answer to Question 2

Without pesticides, harmful insects would cause great damage to food crops.
Biological control of insects provides a partial solution to this problem. Biological
alternatives to pesticides include strategies such as introducing sterile females into
the insect population or attracting males to traps with the scent of females
