Answer to Question 1

Unless the pasture had a high density of livestock producing a large quantity of
manure on the pasture, you would expect that the field planted in legumes would
have a higher soil nitrogen level



Answer to Question 2

Your students should compare their results in Table 4-2 of the lab manual and their
microscopic observations. The students should relate their answer to the numbers
and kinds of plants growing on each site, the physical properties of soils from the
two sites, and the land management practices in the two areas.
