Answer to Question 1

The scientific method is not just for scientists. The scientific method is a paradigm
(model) for problem-solving that is very useful in everyday life. The ability to make
observations about a problem, formulate a question, and test the relationship
between the variables in order to solve a problem is an important practical skill for
everyone. An agriscientist will find that the scientific method will help solve almost
any practical problem that arises.

Answer to Question 2

(1) Make observations.
(2) Ask a question.
(3) Formulate a hypothesis (which includes information from observations).
(4) Make a prediction.
(5) Design an experiment (to test the prediction).
(6) Evaluate the results of the experiment.
(7) Hypothesis supported or rejected (?).
(8) Redefine your hypothesis (based on the experimental results).
