Hook method: asters, black-eyed Susans, daisy chrysanthemums, and any flower with
a short tough calyx
 Piercing method: flowers with a large calyx, such as roses and carnations
 Clutchwire method: gladiolus florets, camellias, and garden, football (standard), and
spider mums
 Hairpin method: flowers that have a tubular floret, such as the stephanotis

Students should name at least five of the following floral materials used to make
corsages and/or boutonnieres: floral shears, floral tape, floral wire, floral knife, ribbon,
corsage pins, boutonniere pins, cut flowers, and filler flowers/greenery
