Answer to Question 1

Answers will vary, but students should pick one of the cultivars mentioned on the unit:sugar
, sugary enhanced, supersweet, or synergistic hybrid.

Answer to Question 2

Water may be applied with spr
inklers or hoses and by trench or ditch irrigation. The plants should receive no less than
1 inch of water per week. This amount includes any rainfall that may occur. To be sure
the proper depth has been reached, dig down into the soil to see how far the water has
penetrated. Another way to tell if enough water has been added is to place a can with
straight sides or a rain gauge in the garden and measure how much water has been
applied as a result of the sprinkling.
