Answer to Question 1

Because the roots of boxwood require a lot of oxygen, they should not be mulched. For
the same reason, when mulching rhododendrons, use only 2 or 3 inches of coarse
material.

Answer to Question 2

When planting a broadleaf evergreen in wet, poorly drained soil it is necessary to use a
raised bed that is above the soil line. Bring in enough good, well-drained topsoil of the
proper pH or plant entirely in a soilless mix of two parts pine bark and one part peat
moss. Raise the bed so the plant root ball sets on top of the existing, poorly drained soil

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
