Answer to Question 1

The flowering date is approximately 120 days; to ensure the lilies flower on April 12, the
bulbs should be planted on December 13, although to be sure, it might be wise to plant
them a week sooner, or December 6.

Answer to Question 2

To produce a clean crop of Easter lilies, it is first necessary to sterilize the entire growing environment before planting, using Clorox or steam. The bulbs should not come into
contact with anything that might be contaminated with the fungi Rhizoctonia or Pythium
that cause root rot. Immediately after planting, water the pot with a good preventive
fungicide, and use a systemic insecticide labeled for lilies and indoor use if aphids, mites,
or fungus gnats become a problem
