Answer to Question 1

Pinching means to break or pinch off tips from plant stems, which causes side shoots to
develop and results in more branches to set flowers for a compact, flowerful plant.
Disbud means to remove smaller side buds to result in larger, more attractive individual
flowers.

Answer to Question 2

A growing schedule for Mother's Day would depend on the date the holiday falls during a
given year and the response time of the variety being grown, which might be a bloom
time within 8, 10, 12, or 14 weeks after the start of short days. To have the plants ready
for early May, they would likely be planted in early to mid-February.
