Answer to Question 1

During the process of pollination, the pollen from the stamen (male) is transferred to the
pistil (female). Pollination occurs when the pollen adheres to the stigma and grows
through the style to the ovary. Once the pollen is in the ovary, fertilization takes place.
One chromosome pair goes to one new gamete and the second goes to another gamete.
This cell division is called meiosis

Answer to Question 2

Contributions that plants make to the life cycle on earth include producing oxygen from
photosynthesis for use by animals and as an ingredient in oxidation, serving as a source
of food for animals and other life forms. Because humans depend on plants for both of
these contributions, it is hard to imagine human survival on earth without plants.
