Answer to Question 1

Poinsettias are grown and bought only at Christmas. Green poinsettias cannot be sold in
December. Poinsettias that are red and green on December 26 are likewise useless.

Answer to Question 2

Cut flowers are started by a cutting. The cuttings are planted in low, narrow benches and
grown out. About two weeks after planting, the plants are pinched. The plant will then
produce several stems from buds farther down the stem. All but two or three of these
stems are taken off. This makes the plant produce more flowers.
