Answer to Question 1

When the natural light intensity reaches twice the level that is being
provided by the supplemental lamps.

Answer to Question 2

Water moves from zones of low to high solute concentration. As the salt
level of the root substrate rises, its solute concentration rises relative to the root
solute content. This slows water uptake into the plant and can eventually stop
water uptake.
