Answer to Question 1

It can kill plants that are not adapted to rain out of season, particularly if there is poor drainage. It can prevent pollination if it occurs during the bloom period, damage fruit, and spread plant diseases.

Answer to Question 2

The snow acts as an insulator to keep the temperature of low-growing plants warmer and prevent death due to low winter temperatures or by wind chill.
