Answer to Question 1

A soil which drains well in the field generally will not drain well in
a container due to its shallower depth. Drainage is proportional to depth. Poor
drainage is associated with inadequate gas exchange.

Answer to Question 2

The model-based software contains algorithms that compute the best
combination of factors sensed, such as temperature, CO2 level, and light intensity,
for yield. This software could conceivably take into account the cost of the inputs
and compare it to their impact on sales return to decide how far to go with input
adjustments.
