Chlamydiosis, also known as psittacosis or parrot fever, is a serious disease of birds not only because it can be difficult to diagnose and treat, but also because it is zoonotic (transmissible to humans). Pet birds, especially budgies, cockatiels, and lovebirds, are frequently infected.
