Answer to Question 1

movement of livestock from one pasture to another on a scheduled basis

Answer to Question 2

Short duration grazing permits considerable control over how often and when livestock graze different parts of a ranch. It usually improves distribution of grazing pressure over the ranch compared to continuous grazing. It also permits better herd management practices than possible under continuous grazing. Primary disadvantages of short-duration grazing are cost and often lower livestock performance than under continuous grazing.
