Answer to Question 1

Ans: A

Answer to Question 2

1

Rationale: Although many methods have been used to collect urine from an infant, the most re-liable method is the urine collection device. This device is a plastic bag that has an opening lined with adhesive so that it may be attached to the perineum. Urine for certain tests, such as specific gravity, may be obtained from a diaper by collection of the urine with a syringe. Urinary cathe-terization is not to be done unless specifically prescribed because of the risk of infection. It is not reasonable to try to identify the time of the next voiding to attempt to collect the specimen.

Rare fungal infections, once accurately diagnosed, may require surgical debridement, immunotherapy, and newer antifungals used singly or in combination with older antifungals, on a case-by-case basis.
