Rationale: The nurse should position the infant with the head and the chest at a 30- to 40-degree angle with the neck slightly extended to maintain an open airway and to decrease pressure of the diaphragm. In a supine, side-lying position, prone, with the head of the bed elevated 15 de-grees, and with the head at a 60-degree angle with the neck slightly flexed do not achieve these goals.
