Answer to Question 1

B
Evidence of low self-esteem includes the neglect of individual needs by always caring for others first. There is no evidence to support that this patient is in denial or is having financial issues. There is no such concept as transitional self-concept.

Answer to Question 2

D
Self-concept is also influenced by an individual's experiences. Individuals who have experienced several failures begin to view themselves as failures. Their behavior often becomes self-fulfilling in that they perform at an unsuccessful level because they feel that is all they are capable of achieving. A negative self-concept is the result of repeated failures.

These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
