A student nurse was overheard talking about maintaining a safe and clean environment. A nurse realizes that the student has a strong understanding when the student says:
 
  1. It is not necessary to disinfect equipment unless it comes in direct contact with the patient.
  2. It is housekeeping's job to empty the bedside commode.
