Answer to Question 1

B
Postoperatively, the nurse follows the surgeon's prescription for positioning of the stump to prevent contracture of the hip, provides adequate pain control, provides stump care, maintains skin integrity, and when appropriate, prepares the client for physical therapy. It is also important for the nurse to help the client deal with any phantom limb pain, to maintain mobility of the unaffected joints, and to support the client and the family.

Answer to Question 2

D
Carelessness of adults, the children's curiosity and increased mobility, and caregivers' failure to adequately supervise children all contribute to the high incidence of burns among children.
