Answer to Question 1

A
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is a blood disorder associated with a deficit of platelets that is self-limiting and usually resolves within 6 months. Bruising and petechiae are common. The nurse should observe the client for bleeding, epitaxis, hematuria, blood in stools, and level of consciousness. The nurse should advise caregivers that the child should not participate in sports.
