Gastric ulcers are limited to the stomach and are associated with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infections; exposure to irritants such as smoking, alcohol, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) medications; or impaired mucosal defenses. Client complains of abdominal pain 1 to 2 hours after eating.
