Answer to Question 1

A
Prior to performing suctioning, administer oxygen or use Ambu bag to hyperventilate the client, preventing hypoxemia.

Answer to Question 2

B
Magnesium sulfate is the medication of choice for preeclampsia. Respirations must be at least 12, urine output at least 30 cc/hour, and deep tendon reflexes normal before the client can receive the medication. The client should be monitored for signs of magnesium toxicity, and a syringe of calcium gluconate must be kept at the client's bedside ready for administration.
