Answer to Question 1

D
Medical management is directed toward preventing further damage to lung tissue, preventing infection, and improving the client's activity tolerance. Supplemental oxygen is prescribed at the lowest possible flow rate. Medication such as bronchodilators and steroids are prescribed, with antibiotics used to prevent and treat respiratory tract infections. A high-carbohydrate diet is necessary to provide the energy necessary for breathing. Breathing exercises and a graded exercise program are useful, as are smoking cessation programs.

Answer to Question 2

B
Catheters are designed to allow easy access to obtain specimens without disconnecting the catheter from the tubing. Once the urine leaves the length of the catheter and enters the tubing and collection bag, it is no longer considered sterile.
