Answer to Question 1

D
Feedback:
The nurse inserts the needle at a 90-degree angle to reach the subcutaneous tissue in a normal-size or obese client who has a 2-in. tissue fold when it is bunched. For thin clients who have a 1-in. fold of tissue, the nurse inserts the needle at a 45-degree angle. Bunching is preferred for infants, most children, and thin adults.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
Vented tubing is necessary for administering IV solutions packaged in rigid glass containers because when unvented tubing is inserted into a glass bottle, the solution does not leave the container. Primary tubing is used when the tubing must span the distance from a solution that hangs several feet above the infusion site. Nasogastric tubing is used to administer liquid foods to the client.
