Answer to Question 1

A
Crimes are defined as either felonies (serious crimes resulting in imprisonment or death) or misdemeanors (less-serious offenses that are punishable by fines or imprisonment of less than one year). The legislatures of each state provide for a board of nursing that is responsible for determining and regulating nursing practice in that state, including eligibility for licensure (public law). Boards also have the authority to bring disciplinary action against a nurse for violation of rules and regulations established by the board (civil law).

Answer to Question 2

D
Osmosis is the diffusion of a solvent (usually water) through a semipermeable membrane from an area of higher concentration to one of lower concentration. During osmosis, only the water molecules move through the membrane, not the molecules dissolved in the solvent.
