The term scope of competence is skills that individual LP/VNs have acquired. The skills may be legally defined tasks that LP/VNs can perform; however the individual may not be competent to perform the task.

Licensed practical and vocational nurses are dependent practitioners, meaning that an RN, doctor, dentist, or some other health care provider must supervise them.
