Answer to Question 1

2
Rationale: The infusion pump is set to deliver fluid at a specific pressure, and will continue to infuse fluid into an infiltrated site until enough fluid builds to increase pressure and set off the pressure alarm on the pump. As a result, the nurse must monitor the IV site very carefully because an IV infiltrate can continue to expand, whereas a controller flows by gravity, and will reduce flow much faster, reducing the risk of a severe acute IV infiltrate. Air emboli and phlebitis can occur with any IV infusion. Infusion pumps are more accurate in delivering preset quantities of fluid than are other methods.

Answer to Question 2

1,3,4,5
Rationale: Mechanical stimuli include trauma to body tissues, alterations in body tissues, blockage of a body duct, tumors, and muscle spasm, and may be the root of the client's pain.

Vampire bats have a natural anticoagulant in their saliva that permits continuous bleeding after they painlessly open a wound with their incisors. This capillary blood does not cause any significant blood loss to their victims.

Anesthesia awareness is a potentially disturbing adverse effect wherein patients who have been paralyzed with muscle relaxants may awaken. They may be aware of their surroundings but unable to communicate or move. Neurologic monitoring equipment that helps to more closely check the patient's anesthesia stages is now available to avoid the occurrence of anesthesia awareness.

Though Candida and Aspergillus species are the most common fungal pathogens causing invasive fungal disease in the immunocompromised, infections due to previously uncommon hyaline and dematiaceous filamentous fungi are occurring more often today. Rare fungal infections, once accurately diagnosed, may require surgical debridement, immunotherapy, and newer antifungals used singly or in combination with older antifungals, on a case-by-case basis.
