Placing a pillow under the client's shoulders acts to open the airway, but the head remains on the bed. Many clients cannot tolerate the prone position. Consistently turning the client's head to the right would avoid a pressure ulcer at the back of the head but cause a pressure ulcer on the right side of the head.
